net mobile AG reports solid development in second quarter of 2009/10
Düsseldorf, 27 May 2010 - net mobile AG (ISIN: DE0008137852), Europe's leading provider of mobile and interactive value added services, reported solid business development again in the second quarter of the 2009/10 financial year.
Revenue decreased slightly year-on-year in the second quarter of 2009/10 by
EUR 1,061 thousand or 4.5% to EUR 22,325 thousand (previous year: EUR 23,386 thousand). In the first half of 2009/10, net mobile AG nonetheless achieved slight revenue growth of around 0.8%, with half-yearly revenue at EUR 44,667 thousand (previous year: EUR 44,331 thousand). All business areas developed very positively. The reason for the low growth is the withdrawal from the chat business, which contributed EUR 8,904 thousand to revenue in the first half of the previous financial year. Excluding this discontinued business area, the growth rate would have amounted to 26.1%.
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) deteriorated in the first half of the current financial year by EUR 647 thousand to EUR -473 thousand (previous year: EUR174 thousand). Due to the significantly improved financial result of EUR 213 thousand (previous year: EUR -247 thousand) and income taxes of EUR 232 thousand (previous year: EUR -46 thousand), a lower net loss of only EUR 28 thousand was recorded for the current reporting period.
This represents an improvement in the half-yearly result of EUR 91 thousand compared with the same period of the previous year.
The result was negatively impacted by expenditure for integration by the new large shareholder NTT DOCOMO and the associated reorganisation. However, this investment will be reflected in the medium term by higher profits, even though the result in this financial year will be impacted.
In addition, depreciation increased by EUR 619 thousand as a result of the investments undertaken.
Shareholders' equity rose by EUR 4,825 thousand in relation to 30 September 2009, now totalling EUR 38,156 thousand as of the reporting date, while the equity ratio fell slightly from 62.5% to 60.6%. The Company had cash and cash equivalents in the amount of EUR 5,871 thousand at the reporting date.
Outlook
With the backing of the globally operating group NTT DOCOMO as a large shareholder, the development of many innovative product ideas can be expected.
Even though the costs of integration are currently impacting the result, the Board of Managing Directors anticipates a significant improvement in the result in the medium term.
The investment trend will remain high, and the Company will also invest substantially in new markets in the coming quarters.
An encouraging factor is that we concluded new, in parts exclusive agreements with several mobile telecommunications providers in Europe and Asia, which will make a first positive contribution to revenue in the second half of the calendar year.
